Matt Rowe’s practice emerges from documentary imagery and chance encounters to produce a lexicon of props, decorative curios and actions. Objects are constructed from an assortment of materials intrinsic to our domestic environment.
Rowe presents the viewer with an essence of folk culture in a quest to distill the codes and embellishments that define regional identity.
Resent video and photographic works have centered around attempts to reconnect with the ‘Mystic Landscape’ of the Northern European style.
